Volunteer Opportunities

FoNP members are always present at annual programs such as the Cane Boil and Fiddle Fest and Great Invader Raider Rally which are put on by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. In addition to our presence as sponsors and volunteers at these events, FoNP also supports work such as marketing, advertising and vendor-booking that must be accomplished before the events. We work with the Nature Centers Commission which presents the Annual Star Awards to recognize individuals, groups, businesses or organizations for their positive contribution to Gainesville's natural environment.

The Friends of Nature Parks always has a need for volunteers to help with upcoming events. We are currently looking for volunteers for the following events:

  • We need volunteers for our Living History Saturdays at the farm and for general farm help. We are looking for volunteers with an interest in historical interpretation, gardening, sewing, cooking, carpentry, blacksmithing, animal husbandry, and birding to name a few.

  • Nature Maintenance- Assist with trimming paths and removing exotic plants;

  • Hogtown Creek Headwater Nature Park - help to maintain the native plant & wildlife garden; docent for Nature Center special events.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact the Friends of Nature Parks at info@friendsofnatureparks.org

Thank you for supporting our nature parks!
