3rd Grade
Below are some of the poems written by the students who participated in this program during the 2025-26 school year.
Carolyn Beatrice Parker Elementary
-
We touched a snake. He was soft like a pillow.
The snake was red and gold.
We went to the farm and the pigs were black as the moonlight.
The branches were crunchy like chips.
I walk on the hard trail, trees, brunt, ground hard.
The sheep and goats were so soft.
The trees were burnt.
The school was old and the chairs were so hard like a rock.
They had chalk boards.
The hut had animal skin, they also had arrowheads and hunting tools and we played chunkee in the hut.
The house had one room and the bathroom in a bucket and had a little kitchen.
And they had a mitten machine and a little room upstairs.
-
Mornings on the farm, always beautiful and bright
Orange skies in the morning, dark skies at night
Ready to farm as we get our hoes and hay?
Never say never! Always possible at the farm!
In the pigpen and pasture people sometimes say…..
Never go in without headphones! Baas and moos always!
Going in them is like standing in front of a active jet engine!
So, if you choose to go….
I want you to tell the hippo like pigs I said…”HEY!!!!!!”
Dark nights might scare you but, hey….
Every one is there so you can laugh the dark night away!!!!
-
The bus ride was bumpy.
It felt as if we were riding on a rocky hill.
When we got off of the bus, I was super dizzy.
When we were on the hike,
the trees were dancing in the wind.
We went to the old schoolhouse.
It felt like a cozy cabin.
We fed the cows hay.
They wrapped their tongues around the hay,
like a snake coiling its prey.
When we say Lt. Dan, I was so exited to finally pet a snake!
It felt like I was petting a dragon!
Its belly looked like a checkerboard,
It was so cool!
Then we went back to school.
-
The sheep were fuzzy and as dirty as the ground.
The pigs were as black as the night.
The goats licked my hands as I fed them.
The snake was as gooey as slime.
-
Flicking his black tongue
Skin is so smooth and yellow
Sandpaper belly
-
The Timucua Hut is a cool place to learn about
It’s fun and exciting to lean about the people that lived on the land
More fun is coming
Usually we use modern tools, but not at the Timucua Hut
Can we play chucky again it was fun
Unless you spear a real animal, you couldn’t make a coat or mat
At the Timucua Hut we learned about how they use the animal skin
-
When I walk on the trail of morningside
I feel like I am in a magical forest
With the birds chirping around me
The plants waving in the wind
The animals talking and playing
When I sit in the old school it takes
Me bake in time to the old days
The magic of the morningside is amazing to start to end
-
Walking in the sun
The leaves were crunchy as
A bag of chips the sheep fur is white
And fluffy as a cloud
The pigs were black as
The night
The snake was smooth
As a sheet of paper
-
Natural place and green leaves
And so relaxing
Totally made my legs tired
Under the shade
Really sunny
Extraordinary and really big
Walking alot
And…
Lots of fun!
Kids liked it there
-
Hear the wind whistling in your ears.
Hear the birds chirping.
Hear the sheep baa like thunder.
Hear the cows moo!!
Hear the pigs oink oink!
On the hike so nice and relaxing.
Hidden Oak Elementary
-
The cow was so silky and soft
The leaves were so crackly
The cabin was as frigid as an ice pop
I was so hungry that I could eat a horse
I felt so tired but I felt amazing
My least favorite part was the snake
He was smooth but bumpy
And kind of a little lumpy!
-
There were many leaves
I also saw some seeds
shape like some beads
it was really fun
my food was yum
as I got for a sum
I fed a cow hay
it was in the day
that’s a lot to say
as the bell went ring
as I heard a ding
I wanted to sing
saplings short as a troll
I’m on a crazy roll
that what I’m told
some trees are old
theyre gonna be sold
some a leaf bold.
-
We were waiting for this day,
It’s a place to learn and a place to play.
We were all holding a smile,
But the bus really took a while.
When the bus finally came we went inside,
And trust me it was a great ride!
When we got out, look and see,
There was so much nature looking at me!
While we were walking I was in my comfort zone,
We even saw a native home!
After that we played a game for everybody,
We played a game called Chunkee!
Some of these things were totally new,
We saw cool things as the flowers grew.
It was cool, it was so much fun,
But please wait, I’m not done.
We went to a farm that was cool,
This is way better than staying at school!
We fed cows and sheep,
So many fun things to meet!
We saw animal they weren’t fake,
We even got to pet a snake!
So much to do, So much to see,
It was just amazing!
I really like this place,
There was a big smile on my face!
There were no flies, no wasps, no pests,
This was really the best!
This place was super nice,
I really want to come here twice!
-
I enjoyed the bus ride and the seats were kinda old
It also was very cold
When we got there all the kids said yay
And we fed two cows hay
We walked to the sheep and fed the corn
One had a long horn
We went on a hike my partner and I
The weather beautiful -cold and dry
We went to a schoolhouse, a cabin, and a Timicua paha last I imagined what life was like in the
Past
Played a indian game called chunky the game was super funky
I had a wonderful field trip and lots of fun
I am so sad the day is done.
-
I learned about the olden days at a nature park.
I saw huts, old bones, and animal skin.
I fed a sheep whose lips felt as slimy as slime.
I saw an old cabin that felt like it had been living forever.
and touched a snake that I expected to be hard but was silky as silk.
But the only thing that brought me down was that I was so hungry I could eat a horse
It was very cold but sunny.
It didn’t feel like I was at the north pole but not at the beach too.
The nature was so pretty but not like gold.
I was happy and excited and it was a nice field trip.
-
Trees, leaves every which way
House, Kitchen, Bedroom, all things from back in the day
Ring Ring the bell has rung time to do farm work
Cow, Sheep, Rooster all day
Walking, hiking reading poems through the way
Warm, sunny, calm, and quiet throughout the day
Eagles soaring through the sky
As the wind passes by
-
Door slams
The wind blows
Twigs break under our feet
The sun rising, birds chirping
Leaves waving and rays of sunlight
Snakes hiss, deer run
Time for a cold water break
Grass tickling my toes and sun in my face
Can’t wait to come back
For another Nature Walk
Until we meet again
Buckle Up
-
Morning side nature center
So calm and beautiful with memorable
Moments to share.
The cows were so cute
The sheep looked soft as snow.
With trees so tall
And with grass so green.
The cabin was fun
School house was cool
Oh moning side you are one big
delight.
-
I went to Morning Side park
I saw cows big and small
I also saw a sheep say Baaaaaaaaaa
Chickens were pecking for food
The pigs were making mighty sounds
We went to the schoolhouse thought about the past
At the cabin the guide loomed
We went to the pawhaw
Played the chunky game
The hike was eventful and uneventful
I was tired at the end of the day
We got back to school
I was sad the day was done
-
I see some artifacts and some parts of old tracks
I see some and some parts of old sacks
I see some parts of fur who keep you on the role
I see some parts of clay to carry water in a bole
I see some sheep who eat and some cows who greet
i see an old kitchen to cook and look for the meat
I see a big big home to sleep and rome
I see some weapons to hunt and cheat and eat
I see a fire starter to warm and heat
I see a poem that has ended but is not complete
Idylwild Elementary
-
I saw a cow
We fed them chow
We seen sheep
They really like to bleet
We saw a school
it was really cool
We learned about
the three sisters
squash, beans, and corn
I would eat them
They would make
a feast I really
like them Yes Please!
the animals were
fluffy and chunky but
cute they bleeted like
a flute
We pet a snake
his skin felt like
a flake He was
nice he did not bite.
I had a good
lunch it tasted
like brunch. I loved
today and remember a
dinosaur say RAWK
-
Poem 1
feeding the cows was really cool,
the sheep that I fed are made of wool,
When I fed the sheep My hand was really slobbery,
yelling “Chunky” was very funny.
Poem 2
We went to a really long hike.
the sun shined really bright, then we sat and breathed lightly, “haha” this poem was really
funny and that old school was really cool.
Poem 3 - the whispering Pines
the longleaf pines stand tall and proud, the
needles whispering secrets out loud,
the sun shining bright, the sancthary
keeping old florida bright. :)
have a Good day you all make me happy
-
In the morning, the leaves are singing with the wind.
When I meditate, the heavens above give me power and peace.
It gives me courage to keep doing the right thing going forward in life.
The leaves give me air to breathe. The sun’s light gives me energy and power.
But its light also makes the trees that are gloomy come back to life in ways you can’t imagine.
The birds are singing in the trees, waiting for magic to happen.
The grass is short, the pines are standing tall, the red buds are gleaming
As the sun watches over them.
When the sun sets, it’s a beautiful sight, but then before you know it, it’s night.
Now the moon is glowing, the owls are hooting, the wind is howling in total darkness. The stars
constellations remind me of the good times. The dark forest reminds me of the bad times.
When the Sun rises over the horizon, it gives me joy once again!
-
I saw cows and fed them
They are beautiful the way they walk
And nice the way they talk
I fed some sheep
and they are Very petty
they are very soft
And pretty and maybe I could have three
I saw a school house
from a hundred year ago
But now it is different
like a bird
it changes all the time
I took a walk
so beautiful like a bird on a tree
the tweet I heard so pretty
I saw an oak tree
so pretty like the clouds
like a bird in the sky
and the trees fly high
-
My poem is in morning side a place of sanctity
its a fun things and we feed cows, and pigs
I did not feed it, and sheep, and there is a farm
that’s have an animals and there’s an old school,
old farm house, and there’s a turpentine
We learn to throwing the spear
but the spear is not true and they pet a snake
and I just look at it and some of dead trees,
and there’s pint tree’s fall in ground and we
have a fresh air and birds flying in the sky,
butterflies smelling the pretty flowers.
-
Leaves are green
roots are brown
nature is pretty just like u
snakes are yellow
the sun is too
they might be scary but fun too
apples are red flowers are too
apples are sweet just like u
the sun comes up
the animals come out
in the peak of rise
they go and watch the sky rise
nature park is green
frogs are too go now to see more moves
Water is clear we love it too
horses like to drink it like u
History is important, nature is too
Flowers are pink just like the sun rise
Now the sun goes down to the other world
and the moon comes up
The moon is up now
the animals and people go to bed
The moon is up everyone is asleep
but the owls and others
the owls howl and the wolves howl at the big moon
In the other side of the world
it is morning
people are getting ready for work and school
but still nature is here and there
the ocean swooshes and the seagulls call
for one another
the trees sway the grass too
the wind blows birds chirp and we walk through the park
-
The trees glow neon green.
At night, trees comfort me.
The trees help me breathe.
At night, trees help me through the night.
The trees help me find today’s light.
Without trees, there’s no today, at least for me at the camp site where I stay.
-
The sun is very bright.
The hike is very long and pretty.
Today is the best day!
The animals are very loud.
Both of the snakes were very pretty.
Morningside is the best place!
Trees help people breathe air.
Trees give us shade when we’re hot.
Trees are the best ever.
The old house was different.
Different from other houses.
That was cool to see.
Learning facts was cool.
Facts from back in the day cool!
Back in the day cool!
-
Flowers look at me
I look at the flowers back
The flowers bloom
A snake say hi
I say I back
The snake sizzles away
The sun smiles at me
I smile back at it
The sun shines
A spider says hi
I say hi back
The spider makes a web
-
I saw an old school.
The cow ate hay out of my hand.
We felt a snake’s skin.
The sheep yelled at me.
I learned lots of new things.
The sun was so bright.
I saw lots of flowers.
The spider was really furry.
What a great day!
